Troy Beam Recent STS Marketing College graduate Troy Beam has been hired to head up tourism marketing efforts for the Shepherdsville-Bullitt County, Ky., Tourism and Convention. He has been with the tourism office for four years, the last two as assistant director. Before coming to Bullitt County, Beam owned and operated the Old Kentucky Home Motel in Bardstown, where he was a member of the Bardstown-Nelson County Tourism Commission for four years, the last three as chairman. Mr. Beam also serves on the STS Board of Trustees.
Shannon Gray North Star Destination Strategies welcomes Shannon Gray, director of research, to the community branding team. Shannon’s experience includes designing research programs. Shannon will facilitate North Star’s recent expansion of research services by developing new research products that fill community needs. Shannon graduated with a BA in cultural anthropology from Eckerd College and a dual master’s degree in anthropology and business, with emphasis on marketing from the University of Colorado at Boulder-Leeds School of Business.
Hank Phillips Kentucky Commissioner Mike Cooper has appointed tourism industry and organizational management veteran Henry A. “Hank” Phillips as deputy commissioner for the department. Mr. Phillips, who is a certified tour professional and served on the boards the Travel Industry Association and Tourism Cares, joined the department in October. He oversees day-to-day operations for the staff of about 30. Most recently Mr. Phillips served as vice president of association management for AMR Management Services, a nationally recognized association management firm in Lexington where he worked with the executive management of eight national and three area tourism associations. He was also an independent consultant specializing in business and organizational management.
